The Skiing Essentials to rent and buy before you hit the snow
1. Skies
The rental shops have three categories of skis ranging from basic to expert which are stiffer, good for higher speeds and hard groomed pistes but beginners would find them hard to ski. The rental shops know what type of skies are suitable for beginners according to their body shape and ability.
2. Ski Boots
The beginners boots should be comfortable but not too big and too wide and they can be put on and taken off easily. The rental shop stuff measures your feet and suggest the right type of boots for you.
3. Ski Poles
Some ski instructors teach complete beginners with and some without the poles. In case you need them, they should be of right height. Turn the pole upside down and grab the shaft underneath the basket. The elbow should be at a 90-degree angle.
4. Helmet
Be safe and wear a helmet. The fit is the key. The properly fitting helmet stays in place when you shake your head.
5. Googles
They must fit tight, but comfortable while wearing a helmet. You have to buy your own googles because the majority of rental shops do not have them for various obvious reasons.
6. Sunscreen
The sunscreen you use on for beach is not the one in the mountains where UV radiation is twice as intense and more. Almost all rental shop sell the appropriate ones.
7. Appropriate Ski Clothing
Ski pants and jackets can also be rented and for newcommers from warm countries it is a better solution than buying.
8. Skipass
There are various skipasses depending on your ability to ski. Most of the complete beginnners in Zermatt practice at the Wollipark, the beginners area for which you can buy a special beginners skipass. We help you buy the right one.
9. Meeting Point
Finally, you meet your ski instructor at the meeting point. Upon request, you meet before and get the help from your ski instructor.
